European officials to recognize Crimea and vote against anti-Russian sanctions

The Venice Parliament will vote to lift sanctions against Russia and recognize the Crimea as a Russian territory. The authors of the adequate document believe that sanctions and politics against  the peninsula harm the economies of all countries.

The draft resolution was submitted members of the regional Parliament of Venice. The author of the document, Stefano Valdegamberi, said that local residents asked him to convey their opinion to the EU  about the need to lift anti-Russian sanctions.

European officials in Venice believe that the anti-Russian sanctions cause irreparable damage to the economy of all countries, including Italy, and Europe needs to reconsider its policy towards Russia. The authors of the initiative believe that one needs to recognize the decision of the Crimean parliament and residents of the peninsula.

The document was signed by  24 Venetian parliamentarians. Earlier, Stefano Valdegamberi visited the Yalta International Economic Forum (YAMEF) in the Crimea, at which he advocated the lifting of sanctions.

The vote in the Parliament of Venice for the recognition of Crimea as a part of the Russian Federation and the lifting of anti-Russian sanctions will take place on May 18th. According to Stefano Valdegamberi, the economy of Venice suffered damages of €1 billion because of the sanctions. The MP believes that one needs to create a coalition against the absurd policy of the EU.
